We were hesitant of checking this place out given some of the negative reviews, but am certainly glad we threw caution to the wind and tried it. They offer the standard Mexican restaurant fare, served well, and at a good price. We had great service and the food was delivered quickly and literally 'sizzling hot'. If you're looking for fancy, fussy food - then I'd look elsewhere. But if you want fresh, tasty Mexican food at a fare price, this may be your place.
My husband and I had a very enjoyable lunch. The food was fabulous and the service was on target. My Chili Rellenos plate was one of the best I have had. The restaurant was clean and we were able to enjoy a conversation without all the chaos that seems to be typical any more. We will definitely return to our new found gem. I will make mention that the outside sign says Happy Hour everyday when in fact there is not a Happy Hour on Sunday. We were fine with that as we normally don't buy drinks at a restaurant.
Great service. They're kind and well spoken too. Food is amazing I'm definitely coming back and would totally recommend it
So stunned by the low quality reviews! This Mexican restaurant will be visited again by me a second time around. This time, I'll order a chicken fajita, instead of shrimp because it was fairly plain. My friend was just as confused by the 2.5 reviews, but this restaurant stole my heart. Lots of love to go around! Our server, this girl named Sundiya (I apologize if I forgot) was incredibly sweet and very, very accommodating! The whole visit was too perfect and very pleasant, just because of her positive attitude! My shrimp fajitas was a bit expensive and not exciting, but overall delicious. My friend ordered a steak burrito and he finished it clean, as well as the veggies left on my fajita dish. The fajita still sizzled and was very, very hot. The music was soooo romantic and sweet, I ended up shazaming almost all songs. The best part was the dessert. Please be advised that 3 of their dessert menu items are no longer available, so prepare to ask which ones are.
We had the cheesecake chimichanga which was smothered in cinnamon, chocolate, whipped cream and fried cheesecake. Soo good. The lemonade was also easy to drink. The chips and salsa at the beginning were a tad bit powdered but overall had a kick to it. Very spicy.
The decor is so festive and traditional decor that spoke the proud heritage of the Mexican culture. I'm definitely craving this restaurant again
This is your typical Mexican restaurant full of vivid bright colors and festive decor. I came here with a friend and we ordered lunch from a quite extensive menu full of many different options. Our waitress was very friendly and my friend was very taken with her prompt and courteous service. I ordered the steak burrito and it was hot, tasty and was full of chopped up pieces of steak and came with a scoop of guacamole and sour cream. The prices here are on the high side, but are portion side appropriate. What really stole the show at this location was the Mexican style cheesecake, topped with whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate and caramel sauce and then sprinkled with cinnamon, something so rich and decadent it deserves 5 stars alone. This place is kinda hidden in a small little shopping area but definitely deserves to be checked out.
I am a breakfast burrito connoisseur and have found an amazing chorizo, smothered green chili burrito at Si Senors. I come here at least twice a month for lunch on my work break AND their salsa is amazing too:)
Solid food--great chile rellenos. I have no idea about the service because we always order take-out, so have no input on the bad reviews, but they are always friendly at the counter!?
Si Senor is very friendly restaurant, my family and I enjoy it a lot the food is very tasty, the margaritas are strong and service very friendly.
We go here about once a week. It is one of the few places our kids (ages 7 and 10) will eat without whining (they like the kid's quesadilla with fries). Service is usually good, although the kitchen seems to bog down in busy periods, with long waits for your meal to come out. Their specialty is green chile, and nearly everything is smothered with it (the green chile stew is good too, although huge). Their other specialty is huge margaritas, although we haven't tried those. The carnitas are excellent: moist but not fatty, with crisp edges. Best bets are the taco plates, taco salad, chicken flautas, and supreme nachos (an appetizer, but enough for a large single meal). They have a short breakfast menu, served all day. There is also an extensive dessert menu. The ice cream nachos are especially good; they are fried flour tortilla quarters covered with cinnamon, sugar, and ice cream. Use a spoon!
The shrimp fajitas, and the "Mexican Surf and Turf" are both pretty great. The Mexican Surf and Turf is a ton of high quality grilled meat, for $19.99, and easily enough to feed two very hungry people.
I only give four stars because their tortilla chips always suck. They're too thick, usually cold, and borderline stale. With better tortilla chips, they'd probably be worthy of 5 stars.
The 2.5 star review does not do this place justice. We love this place! Great food and excellent service. The carnitas, chicken tacos al carbon, and green chile are amazing. This place is a hidden gem.
Been coming here for a couple years now. Great food and great service. The price is just right.
The food here is good, but not great. The service, however and friendly staff makes up for it, as do their very generously-sized medium margaritas. This is a perfect family-style restaurant and if you order to-go, the food is usually ready for pick up in about 5 minutes. The prices are really reasonable, too.
I love this place and it really is tucked away back there so you can't see it easily from the street but it really is worth going to! The prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly, and the drinks are good too. It is my stand-by mexican restaurant in Lafayette! Also they have vegetarian options which is nice for those who want some good mexican but don't eat meat : )
Our favorite Mexican place closed in Lafayette, CO and my daughter discovered this place. In a shopping mall by a pizza joint near a good bakery. The B-2 burrito is beyond words. My husband grew up in IN and he can't stop eating them. Get the carnitas anything. They are generous with the toppings and the margaritas.
Once a week for sure you just pick up and go. Kids are great there and they are really friendly.
Food much better than the last time I was there few years back. Decided to come back due good deal advertisement. Taste food is good, better preparation on the food ingredient. Service was ok. Will consider to come back.
Great mexican food at a great price. Huge margaritas as well.
I was really surprised to see some really bad reviews for this place. Maybe their not consistent, but I've been there a few times and each time the service was solid and the food was good. I'm glad to have another solid Mexican option in the area. Although, I should say Casa Alegre is my favorite in the area.
They have some interesting options that make them stand out. You can top your burrito with chicharones or you can get them in your burrito. Not too many places offer that. They also offer the "pregnant burrito" which has a chile relleno inside. Never tried that one, seems kinda weird.
All in all this is a solid place and we'll continue to stop by when in the area.
I love this place! The wait staff is very nice and the margaritas are delicious.
I am honestly surprised at all the bad reviews, the place is a bit of a hole in the wall but my whole family loves it. Everyone has also been very nice and the food and drinks come out pretty quickly.
This has been my family's favorite Mexican restaurant for years. Whenever we come down from Gilpin County, this is our lunch spot! There aren't very many Mexican restaurants that I prefer over this one, especially after Casa Alvarez closed last year! I'm not exactly sure why there are several ill reviews lately, because our experiences have always been good, if not excellent. My father is Mexican, and the tastes and flavors closely resemble those of the eateries we frequent in Sonora. They aren't necessarily the cliche flavors you find at the Rio or Chipotle here in Colorado, but that's why we love this place. (Honestly, anyone who goes to a NON-tourist town south of the border, will see a strong resemblance with this restaurant.) My all time favorite dish are the fish tacos, as they are they are light, yet flavorful (I like to save room for a medium size margarita!) My hungry husband always goes for one of the smothered burrito plates, or the "pregnant burrito" if he's really starving. Yeah, I agree with the other reviewer, saying the Queso dip wouldn't be my first choice, but that's because I'd rather have an authentic Ceviche as an appetizer, because it's pretty addictive! We find the prices are fair if you stay away from the fancy speciality plates. Stick with the middle of the menu, order a margarita, and you can't help but leave satisfied. Our annual AGI is probably 75k+ less than those folks living in the golf course neighborhoods in the immediate radius of this business, so I can't help but wonder if the people leaving bad reviews are just looking for a fancier place to dine... This is a casual and fun dining establishment.
Good food, good tequillas. Not so friendly in honoring coupons. Loved the food and drinks. The reason I did not give it all 5 stars is cause they are very hesitant in honoring their coupons. I got quite a stare when I asked them to apply my coupon after the bill arrived.
Good food, but it could be spicier The only reason I'm withholding that final star is that their green chile, while flavorful and of a good texture, is disappointingly mild, and unless I'm mistaken, they don't offer a spicier version. And I don't like painfully hot foods, just something with a good kick. Also, the food comes out very, very fast (maybe too fast if you're looking for some conversation time before your meal).
Otherwise, the food is yummy and the portions are big enough to share or take out some leftovers, and the atmosphere is pretty cute, as was the owner/manager guy who greeted us with an "Hola amigos! Ready for a margarita?" Overall, a nice, small, casual restaurant and the prices are decent too.
El Senor Sol in Lafayette has very authentic mexican flavor and the service staff are very friendly. The margaritas are very flavorfull, and the atmosphere it makes you feel like you are really in Mexico. I highly recommend it, the experince is awsome.
Love the Food but Agree on the Coupons Like another poster here, I love the food but have had problems with coupons and gift cards. Again, the food is awesome and the servers are so friendly!
...except when you want to use a coupon or a gift card.
They kind of made me feel, on more than one occasion, that I was trying to pull one over on them or something! I had a $50 gift card that I held off on using many times for over a year because their card reader wasn't working. When I finally had to insist (I was afraid it would lose its value.) they asked me to buy a dessert that I didn't want to bring my total bill from $20 up to $25 so that, to avoid problems with the gift card, they could take the card and give me change in the form of a $25 gift certificate. I obliged but I ended up throwing the dessert out because I never really wanted it. Then, when I came back with the $25 gift certificate later, they acted like they had never seen such a thing and made many phone calls trying to verify its authenticity. They made me feel like I was trying to get away with something. That meal was $12 and I never used the remaining $13. $17 total down the drain... :(
